East Sacramento Youth Soccer follows USSF mandates for birth-year registration.

 

Beginning with Recreational Registration in April of 2026 and Comp Tryouts in May (the start of the 2026–27 season), our governing organizations US Soccer and NorCal Premier, are moving to an August 1 - July 31 school year cycle for all age groups. This replaces the old calendar year (aka birth year) system. As a member of both US Soccer and NorCal Premier, East Sac Soccer is mandated to adhere to the new age group matrix.

 

Players may request to play up (i.e., on an older team).  Requests will be reviewed and approved by the Director of Coaching.

 

Players may NOT play down (i.e., on a younger team) without a valid medical reason. Requests must be reviewed and approved by both the Board and playing league.

 

Note: Age groups U9-U14 are combined into two-year groupings. For example, U9 & U10 are combined and referred to as U10. Younger teams (U9) are typically scheduled in lower divisions for U10. Older teams (U10) are scheduled in higher divisions for U10.

 

A change to the way we operated last year, U5 - U8 will be split into their own age groups for this season.
